Although winters can be tough, especially for aging seniors, there are several nursing homes in the Minneapolis area that specialize in caring for seniors, especially during the winter. Park Health & Rehabilitation Center
I visited this facility and it smells like urine, the residents were unkempt and the staff didn’t appear to care or take pride in their jobs. I was appalled of the facility conditions and very upset with the care standards. Do not place your loved one in this facility. Walls dirty and scratched, broken blinds etc. food just ok nothing great. The pictures shown of the place don’t look anything like they really are. Facility fails to give residents adequate care, because the residents appeared to be stationary and in one position throughout my visit, receiving very little interaction from staff members.
Once families make the decision to go the nursing home route, the only thing that remains is finding the best one to suit your loved one's needs. For those in the Minneapolis area, there are plenty to choose from, and each offers something a little different. Minneapolis offers several health care providers for seniors wanting to be proactive about their health or for seniors seeking treatment for chronic conditions. The area has several hospitals, with the Hennepin County Medical Center as a prominent option.
Bethany Covenant Home - Minneapolis, MN
It is a smaller size but I feel it is a nice size. If we had not brought in hospice early out I ‘m not sure it would have worked out for my parents. It is more set up for higher functioning folks. Move in process was easy and the marketing person was good. Some of the nurses were less helpful than other support staff.
On the other side of the river, Minneapolis has about 429,606 residents, and 10% of the population are seniors aged 65 or older. Seniors living in the area have access to excellent medical facilities such as Abbott Northwestern, nationally ranked in two specialties by USN Ratings. When my family first visited we were given a tour of certain floors, certain residential rooms, and activity areas. We all agreed that it was a good safe place for grandma. However after she was excepted we had to wait a week before visiting and when I went to visit she was sitting alone in the hallway and said she had been there for more than an hour by herself. The floor she was on had a stench of urine.

We chose Bel Rae Senior Living because of the newness of the building, the friendly and helpful staff members, and the overall accommodations as well. He has a 1 bedroom apartment and it is a little on the smaller side if your have more furniture. The food is ok and they keep striving to improve it. Overall, I would recommend to others who are looking. I'm now matching you with one of our senior living specialists who will call you within the next few minutes.
The staff are wonderful and kind, my loved one is receiving great care. They're not perfect, as no place is, but they're as... We have been pleased with The Harbors and the cares they provide for my dad. My mom has been stressed for months trying to find a place that could adequately care for my dad that had more complex cares than... At Flourish Senior Living in Golden Valley, MN, we work hard to bring that feeling out in all we do.
They have done a great job of taking care of her. I would tell others that the staff are very accommodating to any additions that you may want or need when moving in. I have lived at Brookdale Edina for 5 years. During that time I have made friends that will last the rest of my life.

The staff are very friendly and easy to work with. We're very happy with the care of our loved one. I'm very, very happy with my living conditions, the management, the staff, and the people that live here.
